What is Feng Shui and What Can It Do For You?

Literally, feng shui means "wind water", the two natural elements that direct chi (life force) to an environment, whether it is a house, an office building or any other structure.  Figuratively, the term refers to the eco- science of intentional design and harmony.  By understanding the forces of nature, we can design houses and workplaces that blend with the environment instead of clashing with it. When you spend time in an environment which has good feng shui, you will have a sense of well-being.

Feng Shui is a form of environmental space therapy.  Feng Shui principles can be a cure for what ails your home or business environment.  The goal is to bring balance, blessings, abundance and tranquility into your life.

Feng shui developed in ancient China, probably as long as 6,000 years ago.  At first it was used as a method of situating burial sites in favorable positions.  Over time, two schools of feng shui evolved, the Form School and the Compass School.  Today in the West there are many other variations, including Black Sect feng shui and others.

Classical feng shui uses principles from both the Form and Compass schools.  The compass is used as the principal tool of the classical feng shui practitioner.

The magnetic sitting or backside of the dwelling and the year the occupants began living in the building are used to draw up an intricate numeric chi map of your dwelling.  This technique, called Flying Star, as well as the Eight Mansions, are used to analyze the energy of the home or other structure.  In addition, the year the you were  born is taken into account to determine which type of energy (fire, earth, metal, water, wood) best supports the particular energy which you took on at birth.

The Five Elements, or phases of chi, are used to transform the dwelling's or office's space into a productive cycle. The interplay of the five elements, or kinds of energy, Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal in the form of objects , colors, structures or features, is used to enhance positive energy and to correct negative energy within a space.

Based on a complete analysis of the seen and unseen energies of your space, Gunda will make recommendations for corrections by adding one or more of the Five Elements, or phases of Chi.  Five Elements remedies are easy to use and will blend well with your decor. This increases the probability of prosperity, good health and harmonious relationships.

Feng shui is not: a religion, superstition or a set of do's and don'ts.

The Chinese say that there are five forces affecting what happens to us:

  •  The energy of the cosmos (which cannot be easily changed)

  •  The "luck" of an individual, which fluctuates throughout life

  •   Feng shui, the art of arranging the physical environment to harmonize with nature

  •   Virtues such as honesty, integrity, kindness and compassion

  •   Education, good upbringing and beneficial influences

The correct application of feng shui helps us live in harmony with the world by promoting the flow of positive energy and neutralizing or avoiding negative or destructive energy. This can lead to more abundance, improved relationships, better health, a fulfilling career, and more, for you.
